The Samsung Galaxy S was a huge success for the Korean electronics giant and showed that they have what it takes to be a big name in the mobile phone industry. The phone has become one of the most popular smartphone devices after the much hyped Apple iPhone and has shown the full potential of the Google mobile OS. Some people had thought that the larger 4″ screen of the phone would make the phone too large but they were proven wrong by the more than 10 million phone users who are enjoying the Galaxy S.

As the phone was released almost a year ago the phone industry has made some major developments, most of which are incorporated into the Galaxy S2. However, the original phone still remains a top selling device being a big threat even to the latest phones on the market. To acknowledge this Samsung has produced a tweaked version with some improvements to speed and performance to cement its place in people’s imagination.

The two major differences with the Galaxy S Plus are with its processor and with its 3G connections. The processor has been bumped up to 1.4GHz and, while this is not dual core like the S2, it does provide some noticeable improvements to speed and performance. Likewise, the increased speeds for the HSPA connections mean that the Galaxy S Plus is an even more enjoyable phone for making use of the many excellent online features included.

These include social networking support and online entertainment from YouTube. The phone supports Adobe Flash so that you can make use of the best of the web and there are other messaging options on offer too including threaded SMS, email and instant messaging.

Physically the Galaxy S Plus remains the same as the original with exactly the same design and the same fantastic 4″ Super AMOLED screen. This means that the Galaxy S Plus still enjoys the same excellent entertainment features of the original including great music and entertainment playback and many fantastic games and apps from Android Market.

The camera is also the same with the 5 Megapixel Camera coming with an LED flash and support for features like geo-tagging and touch focus. The camera also supports 720p video recording and video and photo content captured on the camera can be uploaded with ease to websites like Facebook and Picasa.

The Galaxy S was a huge success with over ten million sales and, although a similar success is more likely for the new S2, this timely update should provide a new lease of life for the original. The updated Android Gingerbread interface introduces some performance tweaks that greatly complement the increase in power provided by the enhanced processor on board. As well as this, increased 3G speeds make the Galaxy S Plus an even more enjoyable phone to enjoy the internet with and although the upgrades only seems slight there is a dramatic improvement in performance for all features on the phone. This is a great phone made even better, with just a few well placed upgrades.
