How come my Fuji Finepix Z37 won’t work?

It turns on when I put it on the charger. Once I take the charger off, it doesn’t work anymore. It IS a new camera, so I don’t know should I just let it charge? And if there’s still a problem, what do I do? Any help is appreciated, thanks! <3

Check the battery is in correctly.
Don’t just say “Yes it is”, take it out, wipe the contacts and put it back.

The camera will only charge if you switch it off when connected to the charger. If you switch it on, it will use the power to operate but not charge.

There’s a lamp on the front of the camera that will glow when it’s charging.
When it goes off, the battery is charged.
If it blinks, the camera has detected a problem with the battery. If cleaning the contacts doesn’t clear it, the battery needs replacing.

The charging time is approximately 210 minutes according to the manual.
