Augmentation of near-infrared (NIR) and in-plant beef video image analysis (VIA) systems to sort carcasses into tenderness categories. $49.99 Scope and Method of Study. Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and video image analysis (VIA) are useful tools that can provide information about quality, yield, and tenderness of beef carcasses. The objectives of this study were to determine the combined effect of NIR and VIA on the effectiveness of predicting 7-d and 14-d tenderness of ribeye samples in various quality grades, observe the relationship between predicted ribeye shear force and tenderness of short-term muscles, and obtain consumer perceptions of ribeye steaks that were categorized as “tender”, “intermediate”, or “tough”. Beef carcasses (Phase I, n = 51; Phase II, n = 191; Phase III, n = 191) were selected (d-2) from a commercial beef processing facility. Ribeye sections were scanned with VIA and NIR cameras following carcass presentation to in-plant USDA grading personnel. Subprimals (ribeye, Phases I & II; ribeye, clod, top sirloin, and inside round, Phase III) were fabricated from each carcass and transported to OSU. Steaks were fabricated (d-3), then individually vacuum packaged and aged at 4°C for 7-d or 14-d prior to cooking and Warner-Bratzler and slice shear force analysis. Wavelength coefficients were generated from NIR spectral data and used with VIA and SSF data for statistical analysis by regression to predict 7-d and 14-d steak tenderness. Consumer panelists (n = 200) were asked to evaluate the tenderness, juiciness, and flavor of three steaks from tender (< 19 kg), intermediate (19-25 kg), and tough (> 25 kg) categories.;Findings and Conclusions. Design, characterization and compact modeling of novel silicon controlled rectifier (SCR)-based devices for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection applications in integrated circuits. $49.99 Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), an event of a sudden transfer of electrons between two bodies at different potentials, happens commonly throughout nature. When such even occurs on integrated circuits (ICs), ICs will be damaged and failures result. As the evolution of semiconductor technologies, increasing usage of automated equipments and the emerging of more and more complex circuit applications, ICs are more sensitive to ESD strikes. Main ESD events occurring in semiconductor industry have been standardized as human body model (HBM), machine model (MM), charged device model (CDM) and international electrotechnical commission model (IEC) for control, monitor and test. In additional to the environmental control of ESD events during manufacturing, shipping and assembly, incorporating on-chip ESD protection circuits inside ICs is another effective solution to reduce the ESD-induced damage. This dissertation presents design, characterization, integration and compact modeling of novel silicon controlled rectifier (SCR)-based devices for on-chip ESD protection. The SCR-based device with a snapback characteristic has long been used to form a VSS-based protection scheme for on-chip ESD protection over a broad rang of technologies because of its low on-resistance, high failure current and the best area efficiency. The ESD design window of the snapback device is defined by the maximum power supply voltage as the low edge and the minimum internal circuitry breakdown voltage as the high edge. The downscaling of semiconductor technology keeps on squeezing the design window of on-chip ESD protection. For the submicron process and below, the turn-on voltage and sustain voltage of ESD protection cell should be lower than 10 V and higher than 5 V, respectively, to avoid core circuit damages and latch-up issue. Evil or Divine [Special Edition DVD] $19.98 Whether fronting Rainbow, Black Sabbath, or his own band, Ronnie James Dio has proven himself to be one of classic metal’s most enduring and capable vocalists. This show, filmed at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on Friday the 13th of December 2002, finds the met-vet in full cry with his self-named band. The film takes in the entire concert without interruption and mercifully avoids too much post-production dabbling or a distracting overuse of cinematic effects. Some slo-mo and black-and-white moments notwithstanding, it’s just great, straight-up concert footage delivered by a multitude of cameras. Earlier in the year, the band had released its ninth studio album, Killing the Dragon. Three songs from that disc are featured here. The title track is a full-tilt rocker that works well as the curtain raiser, but another of the cuts, “Rock and Roll,” sounds like a watered-down mimic of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.” The old material still works like a charm and the best moments are actually the ones that reach back the furthest, especially “Long Live Rock and Roll” from Dio’s days with Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and “Heaven and Hell” from his stint as Black Sabbath’s frontman. The band is tight and tough, the playing strong, and Ronnie James’ voice still commanding and distinctive. Nevertheless, the songs do lack some of the melodic crispness and emotional punch that the studio versions have. But you’d never know that from the audience at the Roseland, which is fittingly rabid and almost exclusively male. (The singer exhibits excellent rapport with his audience and comes across as very much a man of the people.) All in all, this is a good show, and a good film of a good show. The extras are so-so: an interview with a somewhat pretentious Ronnie James; some amateurish behind-the-scenes footage; a photo gallery; and a promo video for “Push,” which is brought to life by a cameo appearance by Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass).
